Michigan gets #10 commitment

Michigan received their 10th commitment in the 2010 class today from Drew Dileo. Drew is a 5'10", 175lb. WR/Slot from Greenwell Springs, LA-Parkview. He was first offered by Michigan back on March 19th and we're told Michigan was the first to offer him followed by Tulane and Stanford.

Flashback: Brady

It's amazing to watch Brady throw strike after strike to his receivers. In addition, look at our offensive line and how they completely dominate the trenches. Boy do I miss those days!

Michigan receives verbal #9 from Marvin Robinson

Marvin Robinson-6'1", 204 lb safety from Lake Region High, Eagle Lake,
FL gave Michigan a verbal commitment today. This is a great pick up
and now let's hope that Lo Wood follows Marvin's lead soon.
Stay tuned!!

Paulus to play QB at Michigan?

I believe it can't hurt to add GP to our QB line up at all and in fact it would only help RR's cause because Tate Forcier is so fragile right now. If something was to happen to Tate who would be ready to step in and have enough savy to carry the Wolverines offense....?? The answer is: Jason Forcier! I think you get Jason in the door and get him ready to play before you rely on a kid who hasn't read a defense in almost 5 years now. Having Jason in the mix at QB is the more logical choice if you're seriously worried about having a seasoned back up in the wings.

This whole formula changes too when you start talking about Denard who really won't be ready either. Denard is working on some drills back home in FLA during the offseason but he's not going through reads or anything like that. He wouldn't be a likely choice to fill in for Tate should something happen...not saying it will but if it does I'd feel alot better if Jason Forcier was a back up and more so than Greg Paulus IMO.

The word on the streets is we should know more on Friday or possibly Monday if Greg Paulus will accept a scholarship to play at Michigan.

Michigan gets #8 Commitment

Stephen Hopkins-6'0", 220-RB- from Flower Mound(Texas) Marcus High School officially offered his verbal to Fred Jackson after the spring game. What's really interesting is Hopkins told Rivals.com that he's visited many top notch football programs-Texas, Texas A&M, Alabama and a couple others, none of them offered the football atmosphere that Michigan presented at the spring game.

If you watch the film on Hopkins he's a tough, punishing running back that can take it the distance. I'm not sure if he's got Beanie Wells speed but he can work on that with Barwis.

Michigan Spring Game-50,000 in attendance

Great day to be at the "Big House" to see all the new renovations and a much improved football team. I'm hoping what I saw on the field will translate into something more respectable this coming fall. One thing I did notice was the team is continuing to get stronger and they look it. From the offensive line to the defensive line to the skilled players, all I see is physical improvement.

The QB play is showing much signs of life as Tate made many things happen with his feet during the game. In addition he made some tough throws down the middle of the field which we struggled with last year. Our RB's looked very good too with Carlos Brown making a couple good runs along with Vincent Smith who is going to see the field for sure this fall. Remember Grady? Well, he had a couple nice runs which included one up the gut where he pounded through everyone then popped out to daylight and ran for a touchdown. The offense in short looked better now that we've got a QB who can hit his targets.

The defense is always tough to figure out be lets say the had their moments too. The defensive line stepped up on a few occasions to stuff Brown, Grady and Smith. They were obviously led by Graham and Campbell but I did see some great LB play too from JB Fitzgerald. The secondary was a concern because D.Warren was seen on the sideline with a foot cast on and I've been told he had some surgery. The DBs were Cissoko and JT Floyd at corners with Woolfolk, Williams and Brown mixing around at the safety positions.

All in all, I was more impressed with the offensive improvement but couldn't really gauge the defense which returns only four starters from our worst defensive team ever....good thing only four came back.

Note the pictures I've included:

Denard Robinson being mobbed for autographs-He's in reddish orange varsity coat

Buckeyes to run new offense...

Expect the Buckeyes to open their offense up a bit now that their power running offense left with Beanie Wells. They are going to try and spread the field with faster TE's and slot receivers. The time is now for Posey to step up as a big time receiver who'll come back to the ball and sprint up the field for large gains. With Robiskie and Hartline gone Posey will be the man!

The ground game with the threat of a healthy Saine, Herron and Pryor will be sick and very tough to honor. The ground game will get a couple new faces on the OL with Michael Adams and Justin Boren mixing in with playing time.

How fun is it going to be for Tressell to put in the pistol and wildcat offense with Pryor as his QB again. Coach Tressell has something in Pryor that every coach in Amercia wants, a QB that can hurt you with his arm and his legs. You can expect this offense to more of a HD spread as PSU has last year.

Columbus Dispatch
The offense will undergo changes that couldn't be made at midseason last year, when Tressel made Pryor the starter. But the Buckeyes apparently are looking at several options to upgrade this year's model.

That might include more use of the pistol formation, in which the quarterback lines up about 4 yards behind center with a tailback behind him. It also could include a version of the single-wing formation, in which the quarterback would line up about 7 yards behind center, but often would have a back crossing in front of him from a slot just before or just after the snap, creating options and confusion.

"From a team standpoint this spring we would like to get the communication down, because we're going to run the offense a little different," Pryor said. "We're going to run a lot of different plays with a whole bunch of different things we're putting in, like calling plays from the line of scrimmage.

"We want to leave camp as a passing team and a running team so we can just be unstoppable."

The offense is going to have a different feel no matter what, considering Pryor is the only returning starter who touched the ball last season. Gone are Wells, fullback Brandon Smith, receivers Brian Robiskie and Brian Hartline and tight end Rory Nicol.
