So when he heard they would be spending a couple of nights in one of former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein's palaces, Tressel was thinking comfortable bed, if no fruit basket.
"We walked in with our bags that we could barely carry, we were in our bulletproof vests that were 40-something pounds, and we were thinking, 'Man, I can't wait to get into this room and have a little bit of fun,' " Tressel said. "And we walk in and there were four bunk beds, one restroom."
They made do, of course, and found time for perspective in Saddam's palaces in the coming days.
"The next night we had an hour or two before we went to bed and we sat outside on his porch, looked over at his other palaces, thought about the kids we'd met that day, thought about what had gone on before there and just looked at one another and said, 'Here we are, these sorry football coaches, sitting in Saddam's palace,' " Tressel said.
"We might have even had a cigar -- I won't tell you for sure. But it was like, 'Wow, if the boys could see me now.' "

Michigan gets #15 commitment
Usually, it happens the other way around where a Michigan commitment changes his mind, then commits to another school. Today, it finally occurred in our favor when Courtney Avery a defensive back from Lexington, OH de-committed from Stanford and committed to Michigan.
Truthfully, most of the Michigan recruiting followers were waiting for DB-Cullen Christian to commit to Michigan this week but it never happened. We're probably holding him a spot which would mean we'll have room for two more defensive backs in this class.

Michigan grabs another QB commitment for class of 2010
Move over Devin Gardner you've got company. Last night Cornelius Jones, Spartanburg High School QB committed to Michigan for the 2010 class.
He's got pretty good abilities aside from QB because he can line up as a receiver too. He's a burner with a 4.45-40 time and he stands at 6'2' 185. Cornelius is a very good QB with great arm motion and has escape potential in the pockets. Welcome to Michigan CJ.

Exclusive: Brennan Clay Interview
Bo: 1. Name the number one reason you committed to Oklahoma?
Clay: The number one reason I committed to Oklahoma is because that's where my heart was at, I'm going to college to get an education and to play football. With that said I felt OU was the best situation for myself and honestly, I couldn't have gone wrong with any of those choices, but I felt that I would have more passion playing for the Sooners.
Bo: 2. How hard are you now recruiting for Okie?
Clay: I'm am going to start recruiting extremely hard for OU. I have to, I have to make it known to all the great recruits out there, that Oklahoma football is where it's at.
Bo: 3. Was Michigan your second choice?
Clay: Yes, UM was my second choice, it was a very hard decision, but I am glad with the decision I have made. I can only now enjoy my summer, perform well my senior season, and hope for the best.

Ken Wilkins makes it #13 for Michigan's 2010 class
Ken Wilkins-OLB,6'3"-240 lbs committed to Michigan today over Pitt. Wilkins hails from Trinity High School in Washington, PA.
This is the 13 commitment for the class of 2010. Keep bringing in more defensive players...we need them.

Dan O'Neill has left Michigan
Rumor becomes truth as many bloggers were holding off from reporting but its true. The big tackle from Grand Haven, MI just couldn't get up to the level of competitiveness it takes to play at Michigan and thus is no longer on the team.
A highly recruited player by Coach Carr, this 6'6-290 lb tackle will not be back and its not yet known if he was asked to leave or decided to leave on his own. We'll find out more about if he's going to try and play elsewhere or if he'll just fade away at Michigan as a student.
We're in good shape with regard to our future line at Michigan but you can expect us to grab a no less than four OL for the 2010 class. If we could grab the Henderson kid out of Minnesota we'd forget about losing O'Neill and Kurt Wermers real fast.

Pace makes 12
Christian Pace became the 12th commitment in the class of 2010 for the Michigan Wolverines this afternoon. The 6'3", 260 lb, offensive center/guard recently was in attendance at the BBQ at the Big House this past weekend. He obviously became comfortable enough with Coach Frey and Coach RR that he called back today to offer his commitment.
Michigan will get a couple more commitments from their recent BBQ event but they'll slowly trickle in this week. Coach RR and his staff are having a great 2010 class thus far. I'm hearing the expected class size could reach around 22-24 which if this is the case, offers a lot of room for defensive players.
